About Kingsgate Castle
Overlooking the chalk cliffs above Kingsgate Bay near Botany Bay, Broadstairs.
In 1760 Lord Holland built a copy of a Welsh Edwardian castle to house his stables. This soon fell into ruin and the large round tower is all that remains of the original building. In the late 19th century it was rebuilt by Lord Avebury. Quadrangular in shape. 2 to 3 storeys flint faced with stone long and short quoins and window dressings and crenellated parapet.
